Lee Littlefield, “Magpie and Other Things”:
Influenced by Texas and Louisiana bayous, Lee Littlefield’s whimsical sculptures twist and bend in vegetal and floral forms, reaching towards the sunlight. Littlefield cites the “bayou culture” as one of his primary fascinations; a frontier that flourishes untouched by the modern world. The fabrication of the sculpture, the way it looks, and the actual material (vines, bald cypress wood, and cypress knees) manifest the imagery of Littlefield’s work – which lies somewhere between reality and Dr Seuss.
Liza Littlefield, “Vines and Vigilantes”:
Liza Littlefield’sVine Series manifests the belief that all living things have a spirit within them. Using simple imagery and vibrant colors, vines move with energy from the mouths of metallic masks in Littlefield’s watercolors. In the Vigilante Series, Littlefield uses vigilante birds to represent a voice from our planet, appearing to punish human beings for the behaviors that are harmful to the earth and environment.
The exhibit will be on display from May 15 through June 19.
This is not an OU Club of Houston event.
